Diversity and Inclusion
The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity proactively promotes a respectful and inclusive campus with an aim to provide outreach, support, and resources to champion diversity-focused initiatives and thought leadership. Our aim is to be a strategic collaborator of choice.
Roundtable on Black Male Achievement
A regional brain trust of more than 50 leaders and influencers from the
corporate sector, education, social organizations and clergy, meeting quarterly to focus on increasing the numbers of college-educated black men in various career fields.
Rex Crawley Symposium Series
A one-day high profile event for scholars, employers, and students, to further expand and develop the work of the distinguished RMU professor and founder of the Uzuri Think Tank.
Diversity Workforce Development Initiative
Ongoing efforts to raise participation rates of women and underrepresented minorities in the regional workforce, especially in skilled fields. This effort works hand-in-hand with pre-college programming to increase the pipeline of talented students pursuing majors in targeted fields such as STEM.
A Record of Success
RMU has established itself as a significant regional force for promoting academic success and future workforce development among underrepresented groups. Through programs such as the Black Male Leadership Development Institute (with our partners at the Heinz Endowments and the Urban League) and the Women's Leadership and Mentorship Program, the university works with regional employers to build a better, more diverse workforce.
